2022 UPDATE!! Bespoke Post, Allture, & Fabfitfun

Wow! It's been some years since I was on here! Last time I made a post, I was in my last semester of nurisng school. Now I'm SIX years into being a nurse and trying to get out of it LOL. Especially with covid, I have realized it's extremely important to follow your true dreams, which, for me, has always been interior design! So, now I'm working part time at the hospital and creating an interior design business on my off days :)

I was feeling nostalgic so I checked this old blog out and thought I would give a little update on the subscriptions I'm still using :).

Bespoke Post, is #1. Definitely the best consistently and hands down best value. I still shop there throughout the year and highly recommend it. I buy a ton of gifts from them for other people too. I'm just floored by the quality of most of the items I've received. These are actually good deals. The items are usually sold on their marketplace later on for much more, so you know you're getting a deal by getting the box. I just looked at my order page and I've made 52 orders since I discovered them in 2013!! That definitely says something! Use my link for $20 off!

Up until recently, I had been subscribing to Alltrue (CauseBox), which ended up going under and they took everyone's money. So, theyre not recommended obviously... If you were scammed by them, call your bank! Mine was able to get me some of my money back.

Fabfitfun: This one is good too, I have gotten some really good deals through them. BUT, they can be hit or miss like all the subscription boxes. I had some trouble with them at the beginning of my subscription but they were accommodating and helped get me to a resolution that felt ok with me. I don't think I had problems after that, but it did seem like I was getting all the lower value options. I don't know if I got on a sh*tlist or something? Anyway, I'm not suscrbiing to them at the moment because we bought a house and became house poor and then this crazy inflation that has at least doubled all our bills... but I would like to restart it when I'm financially able to again :). Use my link to get $10 off if you want to give it a try!

Other than that, I found the subscription boxes were more scammy than good deals. You really have to spend more to get better products, no one is giving stuff away. They are all businesses that need to pay their employees and themselves, they're not benevolent organizations trying to give people free quality items lol. That said, the two I mentioned above, are the best ones I've experienced, and if you've read my posts, you know I've experienced a lot of them. In the future, I woud like to try the Rachel Zoe box, which seems higher quality, but its pretty pricey. Have any of you tried it? What do you think?

If I get time later, I'm going to put together a list of the places I shop now. I'm very much into sustainable, clean products and would love to get other people on board too! They are good for you and for the environment.

Signing off for now!!

Bespoke Post - Seared Review + 30% off COUPON!!

Bespoke Post - "Seared" Review
EDITED on June 1, 2016 -- Bespoke Post Coupon Code!!

Hi! It has been a SUPER long time since I have posted! This past semester of nursing school was a killer!! I was at school literally 6 days/wk, clinicals on weekends as well. Ugh... One more semester left though! :D

Anyway, I just thought I would post about the Bespoke Post "Seared" box. We got one each for my Dad and my bf's Mom for Christmas. They both loved it and are super excited to use it. Sorry, I had to use the Bespoke Post picture because I forgot to take pics of the items that came. I got to see the contents of my Dad's box and it was exactly as pictured and super nice quality. Bespoke Post never fails in that regard!

Bespoke and Birchbox are my favorites (and regulars) in terms of subscription boxes. I don't get Bespoke Post as often as Birchbox because of cost, but once I'm working full-time, that may change! ;) Seriously though, if you're new to subscription boxes, I would def try Bespoke and Birchbox first. (Get 30% off your 1st Bespoke Post Box with code "RESCUE" and get 50% off your 1st Birchbox with my link!)

Happy New Year!! Hope you enjoyed the holidays! :)

July 2015 Birchbox Review + Coupon Code!!

July 2015 Birchbox Review

Here's your coupon! :)

I've tried their dry shampoo, love it! I hope I'll like this texture spray as much...

I'm sick of getting so many sunscreens in my boxes. Every time! Boring!

I use Muji cleansing oil, so this will be fun to try.

Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic Spritzer (30mL) - $3.79
I tried this last night, it was nice but seems a little silly. Maybe it's better for people will constantly dry skin.

I tried this as well and not sure if I like it. It was thick and covered well, but it was hard to apply with the spongy little applicator. Very easy to look like a clown.

TOTAL VALUE: ~$24

Nice! What was in your Birchbox??

T

I've been MIA because of nursing school, but it's over for the summer so I'm back!

Here's a quick money saving tip!

If you plan on making a purchase at a specific store, buy discounted gift cards to use as your payment. You can save a ton! Look at what I recently saved by doing this and taking advantage of a big sale...

I went on a bit of a shopping spree for my birthday and for interviewing clothes at Forever 21.

Original Total = $376.70 (not including tax, which was around $22)
20% Sale off everything (promo) = -$75.34
New Total minus F21 Sale Discount = $301.36
Giftcards Bought = $314.01 value (PAID = $281.71 -- Savings = $32.30)

Total Savings = $107.64 (before tax)

My math may be a little off, but regardless, it's a HUGE discount!

November 2014 Bespoke Post: "Slate" Review

I looove Bespoke Post. The contents are always high quality and so well curated.
This collection is filled with the perfect pairings for a bourbon tasting! Yummy

*I'm using item descriptions straight from Bespoke Post, they'll be in quotes.

Sopressata Salami, 5.5 oz Creminelli = $9.63 value

"All of Creminelli's award-winning artisan charcuterie is delicious, but this sopressata — hand-tied and slowly cured in a natural casing — is our very favorite. Garlic and red wine notes give it a robust flavor that's dangerously good."

Bourbon Brittle, Buffalo Trace = $5 value

"A smoky and sweet take on peanut brittle made with booze from Buffalo Trace, the oldest continuously operating bourbon distillery in the states. That's because they kept on distilling though prohibition in order to make whiskey for "medicinal purposes"."

Signature Extra Virgin Olive Oil, 5 oz, Old Town Oil = $6.68 value

"Classic olive flavors form a mild yet complex base with refined flavor reminiscent of almonds, tomatoes, and fresh herbs. Simply put, it's miles above your normal supermarket fare. Pick up a fresh baguette, tear off a piece, and get to dipping."

Barrel-Aged 18-yr Style Balsamic Vinegar, 5 oz, Old Town Oil = $7.08 value

"This barrel-aged reserve has got the texture of honey, the complexity of a top shelf single malt, and an unreal sweetness and tang. Toss some on salads, meat, or even fruit."

Garlic Dill Mustard, Mustard and Co. = $7 value

"A minimally processed mustard that's made the old school way. The time honored technique keeps the mustard seed intact to preserve the sharp flavor, then uses quality local ingredients like organic olive oil, fresh dill, and lots of garlic. It makes for a rounded flavor that'll punch up any spread."

#22 Bourbon Toothpicks, Daneson = $9 value

"You weren't going to eat everything with your fingers, were you? These sleek toothpicks are made from A-grade American white birch and then soaked in six year Kentucky bourbon, so that your cheese and charcuterie gets a boozy nuance."

Geez, pricey toothpicks! I love the little bottle they came in. I love tiny things.

Natural Slate Serving Board, 10"x14", Brooklyn Slate = $33 value

"These hand-cut, rough-edged slate slabs are sourced from a family-run quarry in upstate New York. Each one has its own slight surface imperfections, adding to the tough vibe and making every board unique. Top it with your favorite cheese and charcuterie for a distinctive, rustic display. You can even clue your guests into what's what with the included soapstone chalk."

Super nice large piece of slate. It came with a packet of chalk, so cute! And it's from Brooklyn, my old home that I'll always love :D

Nice!! Totally worth $45 since I love everything!
